Final thoughts about this class...

I had an awesome semester learning how to use Flash. There were many challenges in the action scripting and animation of our game but, all in all, we had a great time and a great learning experience. This class has been one of my favorite and I will miss being in here every day.

Our game is almost DONE!!!

We're just about finished with the game. The game file is now too large to load it on the wiki, so today were going to try to cut out some unnecessary things and add captions instead of sound. Once we finish with that, we have to complete our presentation and prepare to give it. It's just about finished as well, but we have to add a hyperlink to our game and cover a few more of the required topics. I cant wait to have our game finihsed.

Senior's Presentations/ Our Game so Far (5-13-10)

The seniors presented their games today. They all did an excellent job.
We have two weeks left to finish our games. All we have left to do is add our sounds and create the presentation.

Our Game Progress...(04-30-10)

We have the first and second levels completely finished.

To be finished we have to complete the third, fouth, and fifth levels and create a game over screen and the winning screen.

My goal is to have the levels finished by the end of next week.

You can check out our game so far on the school's wiki:

Our game so far (4-22-10)

So far on our game, whe have all the instructions, opening animation, and the main screen working properly.
We began working on the actual game earlier this week. There is going to be 15 levels with a boss on the last. On the first level, so far, we have the ememy moving back and forth across the screen and the rocket moving as well. We still have to fix some of the bugs with the shooting aspect of the first level.
Hopefully we can get the first level working by the end of this week.

Progress on our Game (4/16/10)

Weve added navigation to our game, added instruction and information frames, and the opening animation. We still have to add sound to our game, script the enemies and ship, design the levels, and work out any problems. Hopefully it won't take forever to finish all this.

Our game so far...

Heres where you can keep updated about our game:
http://www.myglife.org/usa/wv/wwhswiki/index.php/Team:Team_Awesome

So far, we have the loading screen, intro scene, and almost all of the main page. Alex has finished the instuctions screen as well as finished creating the sprites. I think it will take us some time to complete it, but it will be well worth the trouble.

Planning your game

I'm in charge of the action scripting of our game. I'm not as artistic as Alex is and I am pretty decent at doing action scripts.

So far, we have had no disagreements.

I'm excited to see the end result of our game.

My desire to become a doctor inspired me to create a game based on diseases.

Paper Prototype

Heres a link to our paper prototype video on Viddler!

I enjoyed making the paper prototype. It was fun to get to draw and brainstorm ideas for our game. I can't wait for the end product!

The only thing i didn't like about paper prototyping, was the time it took.

Mini-Game Project...

We recently crated a "mini-game" using flash. Heres a link to my game... http://www.myglife.org/usa/wv/wwhswiki/index.php/User:Rmshumate/Projects
scroll down and you'll find it.
The game was challenging to create. The action scripts became more and more complex. All in all, it was a fun experience.
I don't play many games in my free time, but I found this project to be fun.

A few games...

Here are a few games I played in my Digital Imaging 2 class and my opinions about each...
http://medmyst.rice.edu/index.html
Mediacl Mysteries:
This game was very creative. It was a complex game composed of 5 individual "minigames." Its purpose was to teach about different diseases, how to diagnose them, and how to treat of avoid them.

Learn the Bones:
This game was very simple and not too creative. It had a good purpose, but it still needed a lot of work.

Stop Disaster:
This game was challenging. It was very detailed and very complex. The creators developed it well.
